Back Alley Furniture began in 2011 as a family-owned business founded by Derrick Chen and his wife, Chandra, specializing in upholstery and vintage furniture. Over the years, it has grown into a trusted name for custom upholstery and exceptional customer service.
In 2017, Monica Narula took over the business, bringing expertise in business operations and client relations. Today, we serve a diverse range of clients—from homeowners to designers and event professionals—helping bring their unique visions to life.
We’re passionate about restoring and transforming furniture, especially one-of-a-kind vintage pieces. Our skilled team works closely with each customer, offering flexibility in fabric choices and a personalized approach to every project.

We offer limited fabric options, but clients are welcome to source their own. We are next door to Cutting Corners, a large fabric store with many options to choose from.

Do you offer rentals, classes, or internships?
No, we currently focus solely on upholstery and custom projects.
What is your return policy?
All sales are final. We encourage customers to inspect pieces before pickup, and we’re happy to address any workmanship concerns.

We welcome customers to source their own fabric! This allows our customers the freedom to find fabric anywhere, within their specific budget. We can also special order from various specialty fabric houses.
